Hello All,
I am fairly sure there is no way around this, AND I think the entire situation is just silly.
Since the early 2000's we have had DSL service in our little town via first Bellsouth Fastaccess, then AT&T. I was one of the first to get it. I started at 1.5Mb dn 256Kb up. then moved up to 3.0Mb dn 384Kb up... than later when avail 6.0Mb dn 384Kb up (or whichever it was)
Uverse came to town... I then moved and left good 'ol reliable DSL 3 miles south of town. I moved into town and now have the equivalent Uverse 6.0mB (I am less then 1.5 miles from the CO) no worries, I actually can get 7-8mB on good days. I for one have been very happy with all my DSL and Uverse services.
Now comes the turn in the crust. I am possibly moving outside of town to a small hood about 3 miles north of town in a few months.
And I am now told by AT&T that I CANNOT get the old DSL which offered speeds of up to 6.0Mb, And that I MUST take Uverse, which due to the distance from CO is only 768Kb dn 384Kb up. I really see this a step backwards. If the equivalent service speed is not avail due to ATT's technological fault, then I think that they should at least offer the old DSL until it is avail.
Countless times I have been told "No" or "That is not possible" but until I get a specific reason, I'm just going to call B.S. on that.
I am happy that I may have a chance to own my own home for once instead of just paying everyone else's bills via rent, but I am not very happy that I will have to give up my streaming movies, Netflix, and modern internet service.
If anyone has been through this or has any ideas that may help I would love to hear 'em.
Thanks for reading, and sorry for my terrible grammar :)
