So I got my uverse internet upgraded to 45/5 yesterday and they replaced the modem with the Motorola NVG589. Now every so often the TV signal craps out (blocky/blurry) and clears up after few seconds. This keeps happening perhaps every few minutes.
Here is the setup I have:
NVG589 connected to in-house wiring (in closet) to family room with a Gigabit ethernet switch. The DVR is connected to the 5-port gigabit switch. There are other devices also connected such as the PS3 and Xbox 360.
The same setup previously worked flawlessly but the RG was only 100M. I suspected maybe my in-house wiring might be an issue (it is CAT5e), so I went into the RG and changed the port setting to 100M full duplex instead of "auto" and now nothing connects to the network. The ethernet light on the switch indicating the port turn on then after few seconds go off. Nothing on the TV shows up either. I rebooted the RG just to make sure, but no network connectivity on forced 100M.
I switch the port settings back to "auto" and the HD box works fine for most part but intermittently has the blocky/blurry picture as described above.
I have one option to connect the HD DVR using coax but have not tried it yet.
Any ideas on what I can do differently or how to debug if its the in-house cabling.
