Hi,
On October 30 I switched from regular DSL to Uverse IPDSL. Only internet and phone are offered here and I kept my POTS. I subscribed for the MaxPlus 18Mbps. When the installer came and tested the line, he said I might need to drop down to the 12Mbps tier because his meter showed that I was 3200 feet from the CO and only showed it was capable of about 20Mbps and probably didn't leave enough overhead for the 18Mbps tier. I told him I would like to try for the higher speed if he thought there was a possibility for the higher speed. I also told him there was a splice in the underground drop from the street, but he said that wouldn't make any difference. I haven't had a lot of problems other than an occasional modem retrain until this Monday morning when retraining happened several times and I couldn't load web pages while that was happening. I know my sync rate and line statistics aren't very good. I guess what I am getting at is do you think I should drop my speed down to the 12Mbps tier, try to get my line improved or live with what I have because I'm not unhappy with what I have unless I have lots of problems like this morning. I have the Motorola NVG510 modem. I haven't tried tech support and will tell you I'm not very pushy, so, I may not have much success with that. I'm posting some of the information from the modem and can post the log from Monday morning if you need it. If you need more info, I'll try to get it. A filter was installed in the NID and a Category 5 (maybe 5e) was run to the jack.
Thanks for looking, I know it's awfully wordy.
It's doing the same thing this morning (Wednesday)
