[AT&T Fiber] Trying to forward port 443 with 5268AC router from AT&T

It should be noted that I have U-Verse TV with wireless receivers and that seems to be the cause of a lot of people's issues when it comes to forwarding port 443. Is it possible for me to power everything off, then unplug the receivers and turn the router back on and forward the port where I need it then turn on all the receivers again without interruption to TV service and to still be able to host a website? I'm fine with putting the router in bridge mode because I have a third party router that's broadcasting the wifi signal around the house and the wifi is turned off on the 5268AC router. I'm also fine with having the server be connected to the 5268AC router and just have port forwarding rules set up on that router instead of the third party router. Anything is fine as long as it lets the TVs work and lets me host a website.

Hi. I live in Neptune Beach Florida. Does anyone know when AT&T fiber will be available in Neptune Beach. I have 50 down and 10 up only. It is a duopoly ATT and Xfinity only. It sucks. I want real symmetrical fiber to my house. Just wondering if anyone in the know can tell me when it will be available. I see fiber lines being laid down all over where i live but i can't buy fiber where i live. And ATT and Xfinity wont tell me anything. Xfinity has Gig server but it is asymmetrical 1gbps down and 32mbps up. Xfinity has 2gig up and 2gig down where i live but it is expensive . Please help!!!

[AT&T Fiber] wpa_supplicant questions

I'm using the wpa_supplicant bypass with my asus router. While everything works, I'm just looking for some more info on "how". Specifically, how/why wpa_supplicant (which as its name suggests seems to be for wireless auth) works in conjunction with AT&T EAP authentication? I haven't found a lot of info on wpa_supplicant apart from a man page and any use of it for EAP auth outside of AT&T bypass I also can't find. Is there anyone who understands this at a more technical level that would care to enlighten me?

[AT&T Fiber] Overprovisioned 1 gig?

Just got fiber installed. Fiber is direct the SFP (outdoor -> patch -> indoor) on BGW320-505. I was playing with a SFP+ to RJ45 and could get faster than 1 gig downloads but the uploads would suck (600~). So I bought a USB 2.5G adapter and plugged directly to the multi-gig port of the modem. (IP passthrough is on) It seems like the 1 gig is kind of overprovisioned but it's weird. Some things seem to be stuck at 950 down like fast.com and the google speedtest but there's multiple speedtest.net servers that will go 1260Mbps down / 1111Mbps up and the windows task manager reports 1.3G receive speeds so it isn't just a software error.

[AT&T Fiber] Using Asuswrt-Merlin to bypass RG

Hi guys, I successfully bypass AT&T's RG using rt-ac68u with extracted certs from both NVG510 and NVG589 No pfSense, or netgraph, or ubiquiti devices, or dumb switch needed. I only tested with rt-ac68u, but the method should work for all Asuswrt-Merlin based wireless routers (Please let me know if it doesn't). Basically, the AiProtection in Asuswrt auto tags net traffic with VLAN, so we only need to update wpa_supplicant which works with extracted certs. More detail here https://github.com/bypassrg/att. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

[AT&T Fiber] New pricing?

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/techburger/article/AT-T-adds-slower-speed-lower-priced-tiers-to-15612489.php I know it's been discussed about how T brought back the lower speed fiber tiers. What I didn't realize was the pricing. After "the first 12 months" are we really talking about $55, $65, and $80 PLUS the $10 gateway fee? That puts gigabit at $90 out the door?

Arris VAP2500 Question

I have (2) wireless TVs that running off the VAP2500. The signal is breaking up from time to time on the upstairs TV. This causes the box to freeze. I currently have the VAP2500 plugged directly into the gateway in the basement. (NVG589) It's right next to it. Can I plug this device into a bridge so it would be closer to the TV? Is there a better device than the VAP2500 that I can get, something with more range?

Dying 3801HGV -- what's ther most recent reliable replacement?

I have an ancient 3801HGV gateway showing signs of imminent demise (needs to be rebooted twice a day to keep WiFi working above gigglebait speed). I've been on uVerse since 2008 and am familiar with the endless maze standing between me and a replacement RG, and the last thing I want to get is yet another elderly, unsupported, EOL unit like the 3801HGV. I'm still on VDSL without a great deal of hope for fiber in the near future (although I can see recently installed fiber conduits on an adjoining street, there seems to be little interest in extending it down my street). Once I reach someone who can actually do something, what model should I ask for? Thanks!

Fiber GW equipment fee mandatory?

So I'm paying the extra $10/month for the BGM equipment fee even though I am not using it. I understand that I need my own unique certs for the bypass, but if I were to buy another used device and extract certificates would AT&T even let you return the equipment and not pay the monthly fee? Or are they not setup for that scenario at all as they insist everyone use their equipment?

[AT&T Fiber] Bypass Hardware List

I think we should have a list of known working hardware for the gateway bypass, so I'm starting a thread for it. Edit: I made a Google form to make this a bit easier to glance at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jyy3sCp5AbR1vc74FP82DBu8tTesazzTKNApWYTJno0/

[VDSL] Use your own DSL modem with VDSL Uverse

EDIT: YES, it is possible! https://wiki2.andrewpeng.net/uverse_hacking Has anyone used their own DSL modem with Uverse VDSL service? I'm running into a lot of issues with the stock modem not being able to handle the connections and randomly rebooting when I'm using the internet. I know there is eap_proxy but that is for fiber customers, and I am on VDSL service.

[AT&T Fiber] Is there a way to tell how many people are on the same line.

I'm pretty new to this so go easy on me fellas if this a dumb question. I read on a couple of the threads that the fiber connection is shared between you and either 16 or 32 people in your neighborhood. If I understood correctly. My area is mostly spectrum in households I believe. I ask because I don't really see a drop in speeds throughout the day even busy hours. I was wondering if there was a way to tell if others in my area are using the connection too or not.

[AT&T Fiber] New gateway to support new rates?

$

Toast dropped me a note today, said they have to swap out my gateway for a new one in order to support the new lower rates. I called them and chatted for a bit; Steve was very pleasant. They will set up a truck roll for this. I find it interesting that this is "to support the new, lower rate". Hmmm. Steve made it clear, this wasn't optional. Also: I asked if the existing settings from my existing gateway would migrate to the new gateway. I remember seeing this mentioned here not too long ago, and someone said that yes, that would happen in the AT&T world. Well, Steve told me I would be setting it up all fresh again, with no migration of my settings. Does anyone know, is the migration of settings for an AT&T customer a real thing like I think I read here lately? If so, that might be a function of the AT&T system the AT&T customer is in. If I don't get that benefit, then I'm most certainly not an AT&T customer at that level. Anyway, if they're going to this expense to replace a year and a half old gateway that works fine, my guess is that everyone will get this, they will change their systems around internally, and bypass will be off the table way sooner than later.

Slow AT&T Internet

We’ve had AT&T Internet for the last dozen years and for the most part it’s been reliable usually within 90% of our advertised speeds (plan is 50Mbps down/10Mbps). However I’ve noticed only the last night or 2, the download speeds from about 6pm-10pm PT have gone down to 5-10Mbps with the ping time increasing from 20-25ms to about 45-50ms. I do have the Orbi WiFi RBR 50 router with the two RBS50 satellites properly configured behind the Pace 5268AC residential gateway (RG). I’ve rebooted the the RG & the Orbi WiFi system by that didn’t do anything. Is this just a case of everyone coming home at work around the same time and overloading AT&T’s residential internet? I know we aren’t doing heavy streaming around this time. This is in Carlsbad, California.

[AT&T Fiber] RG replaced with BGW320-505

In March 2019 I signed up for AT&T's gigabit fiber through toast.net. I got the BGW210 gateway, and all was fine. When Toast followed AT&T a couple of months ago and changed their fiber product offerings and prices, Toast dumped their uncapped 60 and 100 products (specific to Toast, unavailable at AT&T) and now offers only the gigabit product. The price dropped as well--it's now $75. I told Toast I'd like the new pricing, and they obliged. But that triggered some things in AT&T's back end, and Toast had to set me up with an AT&T truck roll to change some things out to support the new pricing. They told me "new hardware". Toast handled the scheduling from the beginning; they took my available time slots, found one that worked, and sent me an email to confirm. They even called me when the tech was on his way. So the tech showed up. First off, let me say that I've had two different AT&T techs in my house--at install and today--and each one was the most knowledgeable, professional, and friendly person you'd ever want to deal with. They were true professionals by any definition of the word. They were a dream to deal with. (Does anyone know how I might feed that back to the local field service management?) He tells me Toast was correct: my pricing change caused a change deep in T's back end that rippled all the way through to my house. My address did get an all new account number, which is enough to trigger a truck roll even if nothing else changed. But in this case it also required that my fiber at the box up the street be moved to a completely different and new circuit. It also required--ta daaa--the new RG. He took out my ONT and BGW210. Where the ONT was he put in a small box for the existing fiber, with the fiber ending in a jack. He installed the new RG and installed a patch piece of fiber--already made, out of the box, decently long--and connected it between that jack and the new RG. He showed me everything about it, how it goes together and comes apart (I mentioned I may want to move my RG). He told me that the fiber goes into the small adapter--the SFP--and that goes into the RG. The "ONT"-labeled ethernet jack at the rear of the RG toward the top has a blank plug in it. We discussed how I'm now all set up for the future in AT&T's world. He says that's the ultimate goal--to have as many houses as possible wired correctly so that it's a simple self-install for customers down the road. He mentioned that he heard plans of them offering 5 gigabit service sooner rather than later, and that this RG will accommodate it. Upgrading their service, in my context now that I'm on the newer circuit, means that all AT&T has to do is swap out a single card at the central office down the street from me. For me to get the faster service when it's available, then, is a simple matter of someone sending me a new SFP that supports the higher speeds, and I remove the old from my RG and plug in the new. Nothing but phone calls and self-install. The tech did confirm the new account, and made a comment about how he had to jump through a few hoops he knew in order to see my "old" account (which was still up and letting me have access into today) on his tablet. But after he called the install in, my old account was closed before he left. Between his couple of trips up the street and our jaw-jacking, this took about an hour. After the tech left, Toast called me to confirm that all was well. The Toast guy confirmed what the tech told me, that the new account and circuit generated by the price change also required the new RG, and that the new account was live. As for the old RG and ONT, he said "well, it's yours. You bought it. You can send it back to us to recycle if you want." I found that interesting. It's useless to me, it might be useful to AT&T, but since I'm not an AT&T customer I can't just drop it off at a UPS store for them to send back...

Anyone else seeing high tracert times through AT&T Dallas Texas

My internet seems a bit slow right now. Ran the gateways speed test and got 20 up 98 down (on 100/20 VDSL2). Running tracert every trace has a jump in latency when it hits AT&T's server in Dallas. All my traffic goes through there, and it dose it with ipv4 or 6 right now. Wondering if its just me.
