Like many gigabit customers here I finally had enough of the BGW210. The speed test results are misleading... yes, they show you're get the advertised speeds, but that's really misleading. Most of us rarely, if ever, max out a gigabit connection. What we DO want is fast response on web access, where the BGW210 lags.
For reference, I have a small home with 30+ devices connecting. My Plex server, Xbox, Hue, and TV's are hard wired. The rest is Sonos, Ring, laptops, iPads, phones, robot vac, air filter, my bed, and other IoT devices I'm forgetting.
Since switching from Spectrum to AT&T gigabit Uverse, everything felt slow and laggy despite speed and latency tests looking great. Like most people, I hate that AT&T makes us use (and pay for) their crappy gateway. If you're going to force people to pay for your router don't pretend it's optional and include it in the price, don't add it on like it's an "optional" item, right?
I replaced the BGW210 with the UDMP and Nano HD AP. For now I'm using their fake bridge mode "passthrough" but looking at the BGW210 I can see it's still doing NTA tables. Gonna try the dumb switch bypass method today, and then maybe the more permanent certs method.
In any case, if you too find the BGW210 laggy but can't put your finger on it then wonder no more. Everything is much snappier without it!
