hi, guys. I am about to switch from the traditional DSL to the VDSL Uverse a bit later today. I want to check with the genius over here before I make the switch so I will have the least amount of downtime as possible
First of all, a little background. I am currently using Netgear D6200 modem+router as my primary modem. I have the router hooked to a switch and then from the switch I have a powerline and then on other end I have the DGND3700v2. The D6200 is my primary router that handles the dhcp and assign IP (I actually manually set the IP for each device).
So here is a quick connection
Netgear D6200-switch-Powerline-Netgear DGND3700v2
My connection is a bit odd but I have set this up so that I can extend the wifi coverage and at the same time have the wired connection on my 2nd router as well as wifi. (if you guys ahve any better idea, please do share since it took me very long time to finally get this setup to work:)) Basically what I really want to do is have 2 routers to have greater wireless coverage but the wired and wireless portion of both routers are functional.
Now, here is the question on adding the 2Wire 3600HGV (sadly I did not get hte moto RG that has a better bridge mode and gigbit lan. The unit I got also seemed like used one as well)). I looked online and seems like in order for me to have a router behind the RG is through DMZ that is posted on teh 2nd thread here(http://forums.att.com/t5/Residential-Gateway/U-verse-for-BUSINESS-2Wire-3600HGV-bridge-mode-or-another-AT-amp/td-p/2707013). My question is if I follow the recommendation there, would that pretty much disable all of the funtion of the RG so that it functions as just a modem. Would I still be able to keep all of my current configuration and setup without any issue?
thanks a lot guys
