After three months, finally ATT has sent a check to repay the money they took.
Every person that i have worked with about this issue has been pleasant, except the person originally canceling the account.
Lessons learned:
- If you are using autopay. Get rid of it before canceling service. The earlier, the better. Changing back to paper bills might help as well.
- Keep all the receipts for equipment return. This didn't affect me, but if I didn't have them this could have been a disaster.
- Don't give them access to your bank account. Be careful what credit card you give them.
- Paperless billing means that you have to actively check the bill. Sure this is obvious, but worth repeating.
- It also is worth repeating that it's important to reconcile payments and invoices, especially the electronic ones.
Your time and money are not important to ATT. There is no penalty for their fecklessness.
