Wireless receiver straight to the wall?

I have an extra wireless receiver from my mother-in-law. It seems as though without the WAP, I can't operate it wirelessly. My question is this, is it possible to simply hook up the wireless receiver straight to the wall and use it as I currently do with my two other wired receiver? Thanks
