OK, I've been getting this error for years, but it's gotten worse.
The error is (coming through Thunderbird)
Send Message Error
Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server outbound.att.net was lost in the middle of the the transaction. Try again or contact your network administrator.
So I try again, and it usually gets sent. Sometimes I have to try twice. Probably half the e-mails I send get handed this error.
My e-mail settings are
Server name: outbound.att.net
Port: 465
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Authentication method: Normal password
Username: xxxxx@swbell.net
What is the problem with outbound.att.net???
Now, one additional thng to note is that when I send e-mails, they are sent with a "From:" line of xxxxx@localcollege.edu. Am I doing what is called relaying, and is the AT&T Yahoo server objecting to that? If so, why do I just get the error half the time, and when I do, it usually goes out on the second try?
