I've had UVerse since 2009 with one RG replacement in the first year.
Tuesday afternoon, sometime while the TV was off, the STB decided to auger in. There was a brief power surge, and despite being on a surge protected strip, the STB apparently zigged when it should have zagged, took an anti-electron up the microchip, or some such mishap, and would not reboot.
Called the 2020 number close to 10 p.m. our time, got a fairly proficient English speaker (sounded Pilipina) with the annoying habit of thanking me "for that," but who ran a quick line test, believed me when I said I had just rebooted the receiver, and went right to a service order to send me a "new" receiver.
I say "new" because the box arrived today and it's obviously reconditioned...and I should put that in quotes as well. But it worked. Picked up the system update, ran for about 15 minutes, quit and rebooted again and all is back to normal.
No complaints on the speed of the delivery -- just over 24 hours and I'm recording my favorite shows again.
