Woke up this morning and Broadband light is flashing red. After brief troubleshooting with tech on phone (I had already done reset to no avail) he asked me to see if green light on battery back-up unit is green. The battery back up has died (confirmed that power is coming in to unit). Next available appointment is 48 hours from now and all services are down.
My question is this - does not make sense to me that this puts the entire system down. When installed originally we had Uverse voice, but we stopped that service a year ago. We do not have voice, only Uverse TV and internet. Is there a way to bypass the battery back up unit in this instance to restore service? We do not need it replaced or the battery in the unit replaced since we don't have Voice service any longer. Makes no sense to me to have a battery back up that when it fails shuts down the entire system for 72 hours. I'd rather not have a battery back-up if this is the case.
Would appreciate input if a tech has a solution to the problem ;)
