Edit: After doing some more resarch I think this is normal. If I understand correctly with ipv6 the MTU adjusts automatically using "Path MTU Discovery". Which I'm assuming is why it changed back by its self when I tried to force it to 1500. So I guess its working as it should since like I said I have no ipv6 issues at all. I would just delete this thread but unless I'm missing it I don't see a way to. Still wouldn't mind getting info from someone that knows how it works lol.
Hey guys. I just noticed that the MTU setting on my PC for ipv6 is 1472, and 1500 for ipv4. Is this ok/normal? I remember ipv6rd using 1472, but I've had dual stack native ipv6 for well over a month now.
I don't have or notice any issues. IPV6 works perfectly fine I just don't know if this is normal or not or if it even matters. I did try changing it to 1500 using this command in the command prompt
netsh interface ipv6 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1500 store=persistent
And it did change to 1500, but a few mins later when I checked it again it was back to 1472.
Just curious what you guys think.
