For the last couple of months, I had been having random connectivity problems. I would lose internet or have extemely slow connection speeds on hard wired devices. The tech came by my house today, checked the NID outside and determinded that I was too far away from the CO for the Internet 18 profile, which I've had since installation back in September, to work reliably. My house is 5400ft away from the CO, and for Internet 18 to work well, I'd need to be at least 600 feet closer. So, he lowered my service to Internet 10. Which helped remove the bufferbloat and the extremely high pings I was getting when downloading, however I still get bad bufferbloat on upload. My max dowbload speeds are now at 1.5Mb/s compared to 1.9Mb/s on Internet 18.
On another note, he was telling me that neighborhoods in Brownsville and Harlingen already have fiber, although he didnt mention their speeds. He did say that, by 2020, AT&T is supposed to be fully switched over to fiber. So, hopefully, there'll be some competition for Spectrum in the RGV in the near future.
