AT&T called and said my DSL would be going away soon-no support and no repairing, which may or may not just be a scare tactic. Wanted to switch me over to U-verse, although with no increase in speed-they say I can still only get 3.0 Pro, which is what I have now. My old DSL has been rock solid ever since a savvy tech found me a good pair a few years ago. No static on voice, no outages or variations in speed in quite some time. They also want to switch me to U-verse voice. One missing feature of U-verse voice, if I understand it, is no name on incoming caller id. This is an important feature for me, since I depend on caller id to decide whether to answer or not, due to increasing telemarketing tactics. So I am thinking that if I switch to U-verse internet, am I likely to have outage or speed variation problems? And if I have to switch to VOIP am I better off with PhonePower money wise and feature wise? PP says they feature incoming and outgoing caller names, and get mostly good reviews. I am calling on smarter minds than mine for advice. Fire away.
