This is a cautionary tale about ATT. It is not resolved yet.
I canceled my UVerse service in early April because I already had UVerse at a new house. After reminding them repeatedly that I already had UVerse, I finally was issued a number to return the equipment.
The next day the equipment was returned via UPS. They sent me a notice that they received it a few days later.
Despite this, they did not cancel the service or stop billing me. I should have noticed the bill to my credit card but didn't.
To fix this, I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with ATT. They might even be able to return my money in 6 weeks.
As usual, it seems that it is important to keep close watch on cancellations. Even with the equipment returned, rendering the service useless, they chose to bill.
This behavior is unacceptable.
I wonder if the retention specialist was trying to keep their numbers up?
