I recently relocated to the US and as a result my company also provided me a vOIP account through "ISphone" a VoIP provider in Australia.
When I got to the US I got connected to Uverse AT&T, everything was fine except the bit when I connected my Cisco SPA200 device along with my registered VoIP account which I believe uses the SIP gateway protocol did not work. The device would just not register or give me a dial tone.
I have done all the things necessary in relation to port setting , enabling of firewalls, Contacting AT&T and have now concluded that the problem is with the U verse 2wire router.
I also paid 50$ for techs to help me out but in vain. I strongly believe there is an issue with U verse Router not recognizing the SIP gateway.
IS there any device available out there that could convert SIP to a different VoIP protocol .I suspect the U-Verse is probably having problems running any SIP-based VOIP service as these ports are trapped by the RG.
