I had a tech over yesterday to replace my iNID with a NVG599 and I started asking some questions about gigapower, since AT&T announced my metro area should have it available by the end of the year. He said that AT&T is doing gigapower over copper now, buy bumping up the DSL to ~300MHz. No running new fiber to homes, using existing fiber to the nodes, just doing a software update.
Anybody know what this guy is talking about? I know that G.Fast is a thing, but can only hit gigabit speeds at around 70 meters or so from what I read. The tech claimed if AT&T decides to go gigapower in my area I should qualify even though my line is 2300 feet long.
