So far I've only had the option of Comcast, and just today received an email saying U-verse is now available in my area. I checked the site and it has several TV(Directv)/Internet packages (internet speed of 6, 24 and 45 Mbs). Since I am a youtuber and occasional streamer, I need 5Mbs upload so that means using the 45Mbs options as it looks like the 24Mbs option only has like a 1Mbs upload speed.
Now, after checking the different options, I have a few concerns:
- All options are 2 year contracts, with the shown price valid for the first year only, and 'prevailing rate applies' after the first year. Is this something I can call and reduce to 1 year? I don't like not knowing what I'll pay for the second year.
- Modem, currently I own my modem for Comcast. Can that still be used with AT&T for Internet (it's a D-Link DCM-301) or will I have to rent?
- I already have a satellite antenna installed from a previous Directv installation from a few years ago, will that save me anything, are there installation costs and what not? How much am I actually looking to pay extra to connect, or is that all waived with the contract?
