I was really hoping that Google Fiber would drop fiber optic cable in my Raleigh, NC neighborhood before AT&T Gigapower did. I was just wondering ...
If AT&T Gigapower has already finished deploying fiber in my neighborhood does this mean that the odds of Google Fiber ever being offered in my neighborhood just went down drastically? Would Google Fiber proceed with their own plans to dig up yards and tunnel under streets in the SAME neighborhood all over again once they were ready, willing and able to do it?
It seems to me that Google Fiber and AT&T ought to dropping their fiber in the ground at the same time using those special plastic conduit pipes. If they don't want to do it, shouldn't the government be requiring them to do this so that yards and streets wouldn't need to be dug up in the future? Is it technically possible for other fiber optic companies to just feed their fiber optic cable through the "innerduct" conduit in future years without having to do all the digging and so forth?
