So I am not understanding AT&T's plan here. They are doing everything they possibly can to turn down TDM based services including landline POTS lines, heck they are doing a wire center trial here in Alabama to turn down POTS for an entire town and replace with wireless mostly.
I am seeing quite a few planned wire center upgrades however in the "Network Disclosures" AT&T provides. Mostly #1AESS's being replaced by Genband Packet Switch's, however if a 1A switch is failing or becoming too costly to maintain then why wouldn't they just fight the FCC for an accelerated TDM turndown in those locations instead of investing ?$$ to replace switching equipment?
The servicing wire center for my line was actually upgraded to a Genband MG-9000 packet switch a few years ago, I understand it emulates a TDM DMS-100 but are these used for anything else besides POTS because it is a Media Gateway, or are they tossing money down the drain?
