NVG589 reboots, upgrade to 5268AC

I was 1/2 year without problems with my line (for the problems I had, see https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30013018-NVG589-massive-network-problems-since-firmware-12d34). Then, Monday morning at around 2:30, and again Monday evening, the same issue, frequent reboots of the 589, started happening again. I called support, and made it clear that they should look at the support ticket history on my account... While I was on the phone with support, the 589 rebooted twice... The result: they sent a technician this morning. The technician also had read the ticket history on my account, so he didn't bother with BSing me. He had checked the line before he showed up at my door, and showed me the diagrams, which all looked fine. Of course, when it's working, it looks fine. He suggested that the 589 may have been trying to do a firmware update, and that was what failed. It's a possibility, previously the reboots were random, this time, reboots on Monday morning and Tuesday morning were at roughly the same time, 2:30-something. Anyway, he then replaced the 589 with a Pace 5268AC. I don't really care about the Wifi, I have my own routers behind my firewall, but ok, as long as my network stays up. It has been up for over 10 hours. I'll see how it behaves in the next couple of days. While the thing set itself up, we chatted, and he gossiped a bit about Pace, that the Pace boss is related to the AT&T CEO. I don't know if that's true, but I haven't seen any device from Pace outside of AT&T... -- AT&T U-Verse, Slackware Linux 14.1 64-Bit
