After years of door-to-door sales people offering U-verse to us, I finally bit the bullet this week and switched our POTS line to U-verse voice and HSI 75. While I have only had the service for 10 hours, the installation experience was extremely positive. The technician called when he was on his way, then called again when he arrived to the VRAD (just a few houses down) and let me know the land line would go down while he worked on the lines. He then came to the house, asked where I wanted the modem, which is where I figured the problems might start. We have an AV closet near the middle of the house but there is no twisted pair running from it to the NID, only coax running to the outside of the house. I wanted the modem in there since all of the ethernet in the house terminates in that closet. Everything is finished with wall plates in there, and I wanted it to retain the finished look. The technician was extremely accommodating and had no hesitation fishing a line from the NID up into the attic, over to the closet and then down the wall to the ATT-branded wall jack for the modem and phone line. I've never had a tech from DirecTV or Time Warner even remotely offer to get in an attic or fish a wall. I was quite surprised and very pleased this technician is was so willing.
The tech ended up having to replace the line from the pedestal to the NID due to the old line being the original from the 70s. About 4 hours after the first call the tech was done, all was working as I had hoped.
The speeds have been great so far and I have not had any problems with YouTube or Netflix this evening.
I've posted my line stats. From the searching I have done I think they are very good but I know some of you would be able to provide a definitive answer.
