So I am stoked that Birmingham finally got added to the Gigapower market list, but I am curious about something..
I don't have U-Verse because I'm too close to the CO. I can only get old ATM DSL, and in the past week they've even stopped offering that via their website. The phone line that comes into my house (inactive) is a copper line straight from the CO which is about 4 city blocks away, not an RT or VRAD.
So, my question is, do they serve Gigapower directly out of COs? will my close proximity to the CO screw me over like it did for U-Verse? It's ironic, growing up I was too far away for DSL, and then I bought a house that was too *close* for U-Verse. Hope now my proximity to the CO is at worst neutral, or at best will increase my odds of getting service.
