I need to upgrade the HD in my DVR... (Motorola VIP1225)

Greetings, We are about to finally get with the program and get a couple HD TVs in our house to replace the SD TVs. Our DVR is almost full of stuff we don't want to lose, and now that we are going HD, we won't have room to record our regularly scheduled programming. So I'd like to upgrade the HD to something bigger. I found this thread: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28194634-U-Verse-DVR-hard-drive-upgrade-while-keeping-the-recordings I'm very comfortable with the steps, but I have a few other questions: 1. The comments on that thread indicate that there are certain drives that work, and some that are flaky. Has anyone done this recently and have some recommendations on certain models to avoid and certain models that are pretty much guaranteed to work? It appears that maybe the sector size is the issue, so look for a drive that uses 512 byte sectors? 2. Does the 1TB limitation still exist? It appears that at that time, that was the largest size that would be recognized by the system, but that may have changed. Somewhat unrelated questions: For those that are on U-Verse currently, how is the HD quality? We are currently on a profile that allows 2SD and 2HD streams. Would it benefit me to call AT&T now and ask about any kind of testing that could be done to ensure we get good streams? We will have 2 boxes, but may want to watch and record at the same time on one, and watch on the other. Will they do anything about that now before we get the TVs hooked up and test them? Also, how far in advance do I need to add HD to my account to make sure it's available when I get the TVs set up. Is it pretty much instant if I do it via Account Manager on the TV? Thanks in advance for the assistance. TD
