AT&T is currently burying fiber in my neighborhood. I called and spoke to a rep, who said that the fiber was being run for the purpose of providing fiber to a node, which would allow AT&T to offer Uverse in the neighborhood, but that there were currently no plans for FTTP and Gigapower.
I'm in the Apex/Fuquay area and while we're not (yet) part of the Google Fiber deployment gong on in Raleigh, it's still nearby, and TWC is upgrading us to Maxx shortly. Would it make sense for AT&T to go to the expense of bringing fiber into the neighborhood only to offer the basic Uverse services?
I was hoping someone whose been through a Uverse/Gigapower deployment could give me an idea what to expect.
