So I have AT&T U-verse and one of my STBs is a Arris VIP2500. I just bought a Samsung UN50H5203 50" LED and I want to use the universal remote to control the STB, which is the Arris VIP2500. I purchased a E-More® Full New Unique Design IR Infrared Receiver TL 38Khz and plugged in to the Samsung, followed the instructions and nothing. Doesn't work.
Called Samsung and they ran me through some stuff. Nothing. They said call AT&T and have them switch the STB from RF to IR. But the VIP2500 is IR. Called AT&T and after talking to numerous people that were clueless, someone finally says it can be done and they schedule a tech to come out.
I will not bore you about all the issues that ensued after that, but I finally get a tech out and he says the VIP2500 won't work with Samsung TVs. I find this hard to believe, especially since the VIP2500 is listed in the Samsung list when trying to get the remote to work.
