Any tips about moving to 45Mbps from 24Mbps

So, I am currently on the 24mbps package and 45Mbps just became available in my area, I am pretty much satisfied with the 24mbps package getting really 30/5 in reality and I could see some benefit for what I download with the 45Mbps package but I have a couple questions Im hoping someone could answer for me. 1. I am on a promotion with 50% off the baserate (paying roughly $37 a month) until august, when I signed this last contract the lady said to call in and deal with retention if I wanted to upgrade to a higher speed tier and not have the promotion messed up, does anyone have any experience with upgrading their package while on a promotion. 2. I know that I will need a new device from ATT to get the 45MBps package, I currently own my current device and haven't paid a rental fee in years for it and Im not looking forward to paying rental fees for the new device. Do I have any options on this? 3. I am not 100% sure that I want to sign another contract with ATT, mainly because I might move in less than a year, is there anyway to get a promotional price without a contract??? This is a little bit of a tough sell for me because I could goto comcast and get promotional pricing without a contract. That and the standard rates for the ATT packages are insane for the speeds offered really. On the 50% promotion Im on they're very good which is why I have stuck with ATT. 4. Are there any reports of getting more than the 45/6 out of the 45Mbps package like the lower packages they upgraded? Upload is decently important to me and upgrading would only give me another 1mbps on paper for the upload. 5. Any details of the specs on the new gateway I would need? Does it have 5Ghz on it? Does it have N/AC?? Can it be used with a router in true passthrough mode?? IS there anything else that I am missing??? Thanks in advance
