I have a Netgear R7000 with stock firmware and an NVG589 in IP-Passthrough. My questions is this.
Should I put the R7000 in IPv6 passthrough mode, where all it does is pass the IPv6 packets directly to the NVG589 and handles no address assignment or routing.
-OR-
Should I put the R7000 in DHCP mode so that it would obtain an address from the 589 and then the R7000 would handle address assignments and routing.
Messed around with both, didn't really notice a difference. If the 589 handles traffic i would be using their DNS servers I'm guessing. Where as if i do all the setup on my router i would be able to specify my own DNS servers.
Any thoughts from the experts out there.
I am in IT for my day job but IPv6 is still new to me and gets confusing with someone that is dyslexic and can barely remember a IPv4 address. :P
