I am getting ready to hard wire my house with ethernet, and in the process I have identified my laundry room to be the central network hub for the house.
I wish I had thought about it sooner though because I had AT&T install the Uverse outlet in the living room by the TV.
Is it relatively easy for me to remove the plug from the wall so I can reroute the plug to be hanging through the ceiling of the laundry room, or is it going to have to be unpatched and re-patched to a new jack in order to not have it connected the wall plate it's currently connected to.
Is it standard cat5e ethernet going from whatever converter Uverse installed into the wall plate my NVG589 is currently connected to? If so do I run any risks in re-patching it myself or just putting a rj45 plug at the end of it and connecting it straight into the modem?
Thanks
