I recently upgraded from the 24mbps to the 45mbps service. I have a Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and a generic Windows PC.
When connected via ethernet, the laptop shows speeds of 45 to 50mbps via various broadband speed testing sites. The PC can show speeds of 8 to 24mbps. I've tested them both with the same ethernet cable and the same port on a Netgear ProSafe 8 port Gigabit switch (#GS108).
Both machines are running Windows 7 Home Premium. The PC has a 2.67 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad processor with 8gb of RAM, the laptop has a Core Duo P8700 at 2.54 GHZ, it has 6gb of RAM.
What should I look for in order to get the PC to perform the same as the laptop when it comes to download speeds?
