I have a 50mbps connection, if I use speedtest.net on any local server in the state it will max out and get at least 45mbps locally. I have a ftp server based in france and it in the evenings CST its very slow. 20mbps. This is also reflected by speedtest.net results, picking a server based in france/europe is much much slower than one in the US.
The server in france has a gigabit connection and I have no problem downloading other information to the server at the full 1gig at any time so its not a problem at that end.
I suspect its an issue with international bandwidth. I rang ATT support for assistance, but I'm pretty sure they didn't understand anything that wasn't written on there computer screen and were 100% useless. Despite me telling them the computer was using an ethernet cable so the wifi congestion wouldn't be an issue, they still though it was congestion at my end despite speeds in the US being ok. So I gave up.
Does anyone else have an issue with international speed in the evenings? Up until 6 months ago it didn't seem to be an issue so I'm not sure if something changed then.
