DSL retrains ; using coax, switching to cat5

Considering the switch to cat5 from coax for DSL. Have had service for 3 years, but since this summer I've been getting some annoying retrains.. not a lot, but say 2-4 times a day, usually when watching TV and everything goes out and comes back shortly. Replaced the diplexer, reseated all the coax lines.. nothing really moves the needle. So, thinking of moving to Cat5 for just the NID-RG connection, leave TV service as RG-Splitter-TV1, TV2. Is it as simple as swapping the coax balun out at the same spot on the the VDSL/POTS Splitter Filter( for a twisted pair in picture below; then RJ-11 on other side at RG? Do I even need the VDSL/POTS splitter filter ( I have no phone lines in use at all, we're a cell phone household). Also, in case it's not obvious, the whole quick release cable thing at the top is unused.
