Before I go to cs, in March, I'd like to know more about the roll out. Looking at the 45 Mb tier and see that it requires a bonded pair? I see that we are 1.4 miles from the co, but at the site it appears that we can get it. The nid is as old as sin and the only phone wire goes from nid, under a crawlspace, to a normal sized basement to a phone on the wall in the kitchen. How bad is this going to be? Thinking of going with wifes cellphone service for the phone, so it would just be the Power internet and TV. I can't pretend to absorb all the info in faqs.
Can anyone sum it up? It appears that the install will be free, but it also appears that I have zero option for my own modem? Can't change the I.P.? Looking for a reason to switch, but it's not very heartening. Used to love AT&T in the old days, could do my own installs, get my own modem etc.
