AT&T is not activating any more copper in my location (Maylene, AL). They tell me that Uverse is "close", but they don't have a time frame for lighting my neighborhood up. Independent investigation reveals "close" to be around 1/4 - 1/3 mile following surface streets. I also heard recently that if my area isn't currently eligible, we're not going to be because AT&T isn't upgrading any more cabinets.
The people in "phase II" of the subdivision have no home phone or internet service available at all. I only have internet because I convinced the people that used to live in my house to leave it on when they left and let me pay them for it. I loved Uverse in Tuscaloosa, but the modern internet is practically unusable on 3Mbps DSL.
How do I find out what's really going on? What do I look for as far as signs of progress go?
Thanks for any info!
