A friend is using Comcast, and he just sent me his speedtest results -- 126Mbps down, 12Mbps up. He's paying $55 + $15 for the "Blast" add-on, for a total of $70/mo.
I've been on U-verse for three years, and recently upgraded to the Power Tier for $70/mo as part of a retention package. I get 50Mbps down, 5.5Mbps up.
My NVG shows I'm synced at 62MBps on line 1, and 63.5MBps on line 2, which gives a potential throughput of ~126Mbps. But I'm capped to run at 55MBps total (the Power Tier maximum).
So my question is this: What the heck? Is AT&T going to do something to be competitive or should I just say the heck with it and move to Comcast when my retention contract is up?
Is there any news about AT&T actually introducing competitive pricing and speeds at some point, or am I an idiot to stay with them?
I could be missing something here ("Comcast is more expensive overall", etc.)...I would be very appreciative to be enlightened.
BTW, I'm located in the silicon valley area (SF Bay Area).
Thanks!
