There's a router (or layer 3 switch maybe?) in my outbound path that is dropping 50-90% of my packets in a continuous trace to multiple destinations. The IP is 75.8.128.140, and it is my 5th (and last) hop on AT&Ts network before being handed off to Google or level 3 or whomever. It is making games almost unbearable even though throughput from speedtests show all is fine.
I understand that tier 1 tech support doesn't know shite from shine but I am unable to get through to anyone at AT&T that even knows what a trace or a packet is. Surely someone there can see the syslog from the malfunctioning device but it is not getting better after a week.
For now I still have a Road Runner modem working at my house, I can switch over to it and tracert to the same host with no packet loss along the way. Switch the "residential gateway" back in and node 140 is screwing me over again. I have two more weeks to call and say I do not want data on my U-verse (TV is still fine), but I'd rather keep it than go back to TWC.
Any guru types on here have any advice or contacts I can use to try and get this rectified? Thanks in advance if you do!
