1. I have a Static IP address block configured in the NVG589 RG.
2. I have one of those Static IP addresses configured in my SonicWall firewall, with the WAN port of the firewall connected to one of the Ethernet ports on the NVG589. WAN port of the SonicWall is configured for NAT.
3. Behind the SonicWall, I have my own Linksys wireless router, set for pass through.
4. DHCP server is set up in the SonicWall, in the block 172.16.121.xxx
5. This all worked well, until 2 weeks ago ... the same weekend that AT&T had some serious network issues. Our TV and Internet services were going off and on all weekend, even interrupting one of the MLB playoff games.
The Internet connectivity had worked perfectly before the AT&T network gremlins -- for computers, iPads, iPhones, and Android phones.
6. Suddenly, the connectivity stopped. We do get internal connectivity between all of our devices behind the SonicWall (printers, servers, etc), but no connectivity to the Internet.
7. TV works fine.
8. I called U-Verse tech support, and they dispatched a tech. He found nothing amiss. Obviously, it must be our problem, since the U-Verse NVG589 and network are running perfectly!!!!!! But suddenly, the SonicWall and Linksys equipment which worked one day stopped working for WAN connectivity.
9. By using the internal wireless features in the NVG589 (bypassing the SonicWall and Linksys wireless router) we get Internet connectivity, but I can't see any reason why the SonicWall should have stopped working.
10. I experimented, taking the Sonic Wall out of the network, and setting up our Linksys wireless router to operate as a router, with our static IP, and configured the DHCP server with our 172.16.121.xxx address block. We get no internet connectivity with that configuration either.
11. I plugged my MacBook Ethernet port directly into the NVG589, and that does work, but of course my static IP address is inoperable. I did this while the tech was here.
What the heck is going on with U-Verse? When they crashed their network, did it come up with an older, buggy version of networking software? Did they install a new version of software or firmware in the RG?????
The current version of the software in the NVG589 is 9.1.0h12d22
Help anyone? Thanks
Jerry
