Hello, I am new to this forum. We are ditching cable and going with AT&T Uverse. I got sick of the picture always pixelating, especially at night when everyone in the neighbor hood was watching tv. It is supposed to be installed this upcoming Saturday afternoon. I have read that CAT5 is the "preferred" wire/connection to be used for the Uverse. I don't want at crappy installation, in fact I was talking to an AT&T tech and he said to run CAT5 to each TV that I wanted hooked up.
So with that said, we will have only 2 TV's and all computers in my house run off of wireless router I have currently. How many CAT5 cables do I need to run from the out side grey box attached to the side of the house (I belive its called an NID) to the living room where the residential gateway will be located and the main TV that get watched the most. Also, the other TV is in our master bedroom, how many cables will I need to run from the residential gateway over to the box in the master bed room.
The cables should be easy to pull. Last year I was able to pull a new RG6 cable to the living room easily because it had RG-59 and I thought that was causing the pixelation issue. The master bedroom has RG-59 currently still ran to it.
Or am I wasting my time pulling the cable myself? Will the installer do this as part of their installation? It has been my experience that the installer will cut corners or choose the easiest way out most of the time.
Thanks for the help in advance.
