AT&T U-Verse has a known issue with DD-WRT routers in the Uverse Gateway's "DMZ" (DMZ-Plus Mode?), and a simple fix for this issue. My problem, although it may relate or have similarities, differs slightly from this aforementioned issue.
I am running U-Verse with my DD-WRT router in the DMZ, having applied the fix for the above issue. I am running FTP and rsync servers for my own personal use. I have found that, when I initiate transfers outside of my LAN, I can download just fine until about ten minutes (really, between 598 and 602 seconds each time) have elapsed, at which point the connection hangs. The FTP clients I use support resuming transfers, which prevented me from noticing this problem for a while, but the rsync clients just hang indefinitely.
I can initiate downloads from within my network and have them continue to success for well over ten minutes, which is the reason I discount the DD-WRT/DMZ/DHCP issue. And, within my LAN, I can initiate client transfers from my servers and have them run until completion (for more than ten minutes), which has eliminated the FTP/rsync servers as the culprit.
Since I have seen this problem in multiple clients at multiple Internet addresses, I can find no other fault but AT&T's connection from my LAN to the Internet. Does anyone know anything about this and anything about fixing this?
