Is this AT&T U-verse?

My father's home has basic DSL and landline phone, AT&T's price kept going up, so I asked him to call AT&T and see if there is a cancellation fee if he stops DSL, the CRS told him they could switch him to monthly plan with lower rate and he could cancel anytime. My father gave OK and the CRS said it would take effect the next day. The next day an AT&T van came and the technician worked on the hub box outside of our house on the curb, and then the next day (yesterday) the landline phone stopped working, DSL still worked. I called today (Saturday) to find out what's going on, only got the automated system, their CRS works Monday thru Friday. I searched online and there is plan by ATT which said Internet without landline phone. Is this the one that my father's plan got switched to?? He said there was NO mention from the CRS that the landline would be cut. My question is: If we call CRS on Monday, to get back the landline, how long will it take? I felt the CRS was very tricky in doing this, so if we just want the phone line back (no more DSL from ATT after doing this to us), how long does it take? I just need an idea, any susggestions? So if CRS lie again, I would file a formal complaint.
