Hi! I just got U-verse TV, Internet, and Voice installed in a brand-new U-verse green city.
I have the U450 package with the one wired receiver that comes with it. I also have the 24Mbps Internet package and the Voice Unlimited package.
I would really like 45Mbps, but I'm guessing it isn't available because I'm in an apartment.
The gateway is the NVG589 and I am on the 32/5 (I think that's it) profile. The line stats seem to be very good...something like 18db SNR downstream and max sync of 82Mbps/line 1.
I do not have a bonded pair, as far as I know. My line stats only show one set of line stats.
The TV service works perfectly. Absolutely no complaints here and I'm very glad to be rid of Cox.
The Internet is another story. When it was first installed, I got around 20-22Mbps. Later in the evening on the install date, it dropped to anywhere between 4 and 10Mbps. Lately, it's been around 15Mbps.
This happens wired or wireless. I unplugged EVERYTHING from the RG, even the TV receiver, and plugged my computer and only my computer in... Same results. Multiple devices, same results. Etc.
A tech came out and he told me this:
WiFi is going to be slower, up to half the speed, of a hardwired connection.
Now... I live in a 700 square feet apartment. I did not have an issue achieving 12Mbps on my old U-verse IPDSLAM service (6200 feet from CO...all I could get until UVTV/VDSL rolled out here).
I've also never experienced such a dramatic speed drop when using WiFi, and like I said, my problem happens on wireless as well as hardwired.
So I'm pretty sure the tech was blowing smoke and he just wanted to go home - it was in the evening that he came.
What do I do now?
I miss my old IPDSLAM service, but I love UVTV.
Thanks...
