Im thinking about switching to Uverse, and have a few technical questions. The phone line coming into my house terminates straight into my computer room on the far east side. I only have 1 TV that is on another floor on the far west side. I would like the RG to be located in the computer room primarily so they wont have to run a line around my house, and drill into the side just for the 1 TV. The TV room is already connected to the computer room via a Cat5 cable and a gigabit switch which provides my data needs to that side of the house.
1. Would the installer be willing to install the RG in the computer room, or would they insist it has to be close to the 1 TV?
2. If the RG is in computer room, how would they connect the STB in the TV room to it? Its too far for Wireless. There is about 60 feet of RG6 coax between the TV room and computer room. Could/Would they use Powerline Adapters?
3. I do have the capability to create a separate VLAN on the two switches for the STB network which I would like to do down the road (if there is any advantage). Anything I need to be aware of, or any special equipment I would need upfront?
Thanks for any assistance.
