I switched to U-Verse today. They installed the Motorola NVG589 gateway. I setup the following cascading router config:
Internet U-Verse Gateway (NAT) Tomato Router (NAT) PC's
All works with the exception of the DynamicDNS I have configured with the built in DDNS client on the Tomato Router. It set's the DDNS address to the private IP that the Tomato Router's WAN port got from the U-Verse gateway. Any way to make the DDNS client see the actual U-Verse internet IP?
I know I could always connect a spare PC directly to the U-Verse Gateway and run the DDNS client on the PC. Don't want to do that though because of wasted electricity, etc. Also, I don't think I can switch the U-Verse Gateway to IP Passthrough as that would break the DVR's direct connection to the U-Verse gateway, which is over coax. Please correct me if I am wrong.
BTW, reason I want to keep the Tomato Router in the mix is because I ssh into it for some tunneling stuff. Figured I could just port forward the ssh connections from the U-Verse gateway to the Tomato router.
Thanks.
