So about the middle of last month, my family decided to make the jump to U-Verse DSL and Phone, and had to wait until today (3rd) to have it all hooked up. Well the tech called a little after 9am, said they were having problems from the box, wasn't able to find or get a signal for u-verse to our line (I think he kinda muttered some). So he decided to come here after he couldn't fix it. He put in a repair ticket for the box and came in to check out lines in the house. So here are my questions.
1. Does the tech really have to check EVERY phone jack in the house? I ask because I had a few people asleep in 2 of the rooms, and the other 2 rooms has too much junk to move. I will also note, they didn't tell me he had to do this, just was coming in to connect the U-Verse DSL and phone. Also, why test all phone jacks, when the modem is only going to ever be hooked up to one phone jack at all times.
2. The wires in this aprt are like 50+ years old, and he said it would work with their equipment, but be like our current DSL (I swear thats what he said, was hard to hear him at times).
3. One of my brothers managed to get U-Verse DSL hooked up only for 15-20 mins when he used to live here, the tech just came out and hooked it up no problem and it worked, but it cut our landline phone off, so it got disconnected and we got normal high speed DSL. Question is, why couldn't this tech do that?
I had to cancel the whole order and just stick with my current DSL, I just don't see why he "had" to test the other jacks, they are daisy chained for sure as this place is old. The tech also looked as if he didn't want to install it, and when I told him I wasn't gonna wake those who were still sleeping, he decided to call it quits and said he couldn't complete the work.
I guess I am gonna have to use the current DSL until AT&T forces us to either upgrade or lose the interwebs.
