I am puzzled - after upgrading to the UVerse Power tier, a few major websites including Yahoo, Facebook, and Wikipedia are very slow to begin loading in the browser (around a minute rather than fractions of a second).
I am using a Linksys WRT1900AC with IP passthrough mode on the new NVG589 modem. Since the NVG589 has a lot of issues with personal routers behind it, my first thought was that this has something to do with DNS not resolving properly in this configuration. But then why do all the other websites load so fast, including tiny unknown websites? Why are just these 3 major sites so slow?
Are some major websites using a cache at the ISP and could it be related to something like that?
The following might be a clue. When I open these 3 sites in IE11, the browser tab will momentarily say "Redirecting..." and that is not something I remember seeing before I upgraded to the Power tier. Redirecting to what? This slow behavior is browser independent, however, since it does the same in Firefox, Safari, Chrome.
I checked the DNS using the namebench utility and it reports that the existing DNS is among the fastest, and switching the DNS settings to others has no effect.
