Beginning Wednesday at approximately 6:30pm PDT, I began to experience interruption of coverage of the NHL playoffs. Specifically, the screen freezes. If I wait for about 30 seconds, a blue screen appears with the notification that the signal has been lost with recommended actions. I have taken those actions. I have also found that if I switch to another station and return to NBC SN that I can view for 10 seconds before the screen again freezes. Sometime around 7:00pm or thereafter the problem is resolved.
I have contacted both Technical Support and Customer Support and received various explanations. The explanations can be summarized as: ATT is a "provider" and can do nothing further; ATT has notified NBC and "NBC engineers" are working to correct the problem; on Friday there were no reported problems so any problem was corrected; on Saturday ATT was treating it as an "escalated" problem for my area (San Diego) because of numerous reports; and that there are no reports of problems with the Hi-Def signal. Because of the last repeated response I'm beginning to wonder if this is a calculated attempt to convert me to HD service with additional charge.
My primary purpose in posting is to attempt to determine if this truly is a limited or more extensive problem. I've begun efforts to learn more about broadcasting and cable systems. I would appreciate any information that could be provided.
