When I recently got U-Verse Internet I was compelled to buy a wifi/router from ATT, which turned out to be a very battered and obsolete old 3600HGV [6.9.1.42-plus.tm] that does not support 802.11n wireless.
Many U-Verse Internet subscribers have very rightfully complained of this scandalous situation. The response I've seen is that if you need a 802.11n router (I do) and are stuck with this thing, to just add a separate n-capable AP or wifi router to an ethernet port on the 3600HGV's router and use that for the wifi instead of the 3600HGV.
Nobody I've seen has supplied any link to a tutorial or how-to on doing this, and having spent the better part of the day trying, I can assure you it isn't a transparent process.
I have two questions:
1 - Has anyone succeeded in getting ATT to take this museum piece back and cough up a modern wifi/router?
2 - If not, does anyone have a link on how to successfully do this kludge? I'm assuming a lot of hassle with port forwarding in both units, etc., etc. I'll be using a Linksys WRT120N.
Thanks for any help!
