Upload speed question

Think I need some eyeballs on this and some thoughts as to what could help me. Trying to do some due diligence first. I know the upload speeds on various profiles got changed not long ago (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29048565-Upload-Increased-Max-Turbo-5-Mbps-Max-Plus-2-Mbps). I just changed jobs and I get to work from home, which means I get to upload large files now to the company network. Figured now would be the best time to upgrade my connection from 12/2 (Max) to 24/5 (Max Turbo, really wish they would just use the damn numbers, but that is another post). The order is in and I got 24/3.5 on a few speed tests. Did the usual stuff, power cycled modem, run from hard wired devices to the modem. Still floating around 24/3.5. Looked at the modem page and thought my upload sync looked low. Fired up the Win7 VM and installed UV Realtime for an easier look. It would appear my upload is capped at 3.5 as the sync rate is 3700kbps. Thinking its capped at that due to the power level being -7.7 but not sure. The upload section of the bitload looks terrible to me. The way things are setup right now: Buried line all the way from the vrad, (unless I am wrong on where the phone line enters the neighborhood) NID to modem is coax, via a splitter to get hpna/coax to the other 3 cable jacks in the house 1x DVR, 1x STB, both via coax Secondary router in DMZ with everything of mine behind it, for VPN routing and the likes I saw some recent posts, the path from NID to modem is not favored to be coax. If I spent some time this weekend pulling out an old Direct/Dish TV coax install (they drilled floor and ran it that way) and replace it with a run or two of cat5 to out to the NID. What would it take to get it switched over to using twisted pair? (Yeah, I know cat5 wont fit in rj-11 plug, but look around there's a few examples of it being done sorta.) Tomorrow I might try testing right at the NID to see how it sync up there. Little to dark right now to go be doing that. Also considered cheating/gaming the system, by ordering 45/6(?) and forcing a truck roll to setup a second line and change out to a newer modem. Decided that would be around plan G or so if I cant figure out a way to improve the upload sync.
