I am a uverse triple play customer currently on the max plus (18 mbps) internet package. Our neighborhood is FTTH. My 3801 gateway is wired with Ethernet cable. I consistently get around 21 down and 2 up with excellent ping times. I am currently on BPON. Recently Max Turbo started being offered in my area. In order to upgrade, I was told that I had to be switched from BPON to GPON. They are willing to send a tech out to confirm that they can make the switch.
My question to you is if there is anything that can go wrong if they start to do the switch. They told me that it is possible I could be completely down for a couple of days. Has anyone gone through this? How was the experience? They are going to call me back on Monday to see if I want to go through with it, but I just want to make sure that I am not shooting myself in the foot.
Should I leave good enough alone? I think eventually I would need to move to GPON anyway right?
