I have ATT U-Verse. The most I can get in my area is 6Mbps. Even though that's considered terrible, I'm fine with that. At least, I WOULD be, if not for the blinkouts.
At night time, the service on my router randomly goes out and comes back over a span of 30 seconds. It's doing this several times past 8PM. Not a lot, but not a little either. I had a version of this problem with DSL before switching, and was told up and down U-Verse wouldn't have it. Now, I've lost count on how many techs I've had over trying to handle this. The issue is something to do with the wiring outside my house, but any fix to it doesn't last too long. The longest period I've gone without any blinkouts after a tech visit is a month or two. That was before a huge snowstorm hit last year, and it was back to blinky town once again. These are annoying, and the only reasons I haven't switched over to Comcast are that they're more expensive and I hear their customer service sucks.
Now the snow is letting up, and I'm going to bring a tech out again once it's gone. Again, it's been concluded that the problem wasn't my equipment, but outside wiring. Still, I was wondering if there was any way to narrow down my problem. Are there stats I could present to a tech to maybe give him a clue as to what he should be attempting out there? It's possible that the phone wiring going to my house is just irredeemable for internet, and maybe I should just go over to Comcast. Still, I'm willing to give ATT a few more shots because the service is pretty stable and consistent aside from these blinkouts.
